Pakistan Emergency Management

DAP delivered a USTDA-sponsored orientation visit for Pakistan emergency management officials in May 2005.  The purpose is to familiarize a delegation of nine Pakistani officials with U.S. policy and practices in the area of oil spill response and recovery, including oil spill prevention standards, rapid response procedures, and the implementation of a National Response Plan.

During the visit, the delegation improved their knowledge of the U.S. oil spill response industry and technologies, including state-of-the art containment and cleanup equipment and products. They met with U.S. suppliers, national associations, and federal agencies such as the Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Coast Guard. The delegation visited New Jersey, Washington, D.C., and Miami, FL for the International Oil Spill Conference (IOSC).

This orientation visit culminated with a Business Briefing for U.S. companies held in Miami Beach, Florida in cooperation with the International Oil Spill Conference (IOSC). The Business Briefing was an opportunity for U.S. Companies to meet with high level delegates and hear from them about their oil spill response and recovery projects. The delegation presentations were followed by optional one-on-one meetings with the delegates.
