This Jordan Post project was sponsored by the Ministry of Information and Communications Technology of Jordan. The first step consisted of a market study to evaluate the current and potential postal market in Jordan. The analysis was designed to guide policy development, restructuring and possible privatisation. The marketing study included the development of a clear understanding of market dynamics and the identification of opportunities and obstacles for growth based on market-wide data collection and economic analysis. The study also included assessing the role and contribution of the postal sector to e-society and recommendations for change. The second component of the project was an operational analysis with recommendations for private sector participation, followed by a financial analysis which included the analysis of business scenarios and the high-level definition of a performance contract. These components were followed by the development of a sector policy and Jordan Post governance recommendations.
